I retired from the Stillwater, OK Police Department as Deputy Chief on Jan. 31, 2001 after serving for 30 years, two weeks, two days, and 20 minutes.

I more or less enjoyed retirement for 3 years, 8 months, 18 days.  Basically, over that period of time, I tried to sell a few cars, automotive collectibles, and some car polish.  I quickly learned that I am not a salesman!  Then, I found that I had plenty of time to enjoy working on the car and truck, going to shows, Studebaker meets, and swap meets, etc.  However, retirement does not pay like full-time employment, so I found myself short on money to do such with.  So, I took a part-time job on
10-18-04 as Emergency Management Director for the City of Perkins, OK.  I'm sure I'll find myself now with a little more money, (part time as Perkins EMD doesn't pay like full time as Stillwater's DCOP (I'm learning all kinds of acronyms in my new position, as the Feds are much more involved)) and a LOT less time.  Oh, well, that's life!  It does feel good to be doing something useful again, however.

Read about our visit from Loy and Jana...  It was a dark and stormy night....  Two police officers put their report writing skills to work to describe their first meeting, when the Danials came through Oklahoma during a blizzard.  They were on their way from Texas to Kansas to pick up a Stude pick up, and got stranded.  You've never read anything quite like it!
